"I Must Be Dreaming"

We are at a public park, oddly relaxing on a huge couch. Just chatting and enjoying light banter. A bit too cossy for the niche. She says she has an idea of where we could have fun, and all I need to do is trust her. I close my eyes as she places a device on my wrist and turns it on. I feel myself passing out.

Next instance, I am a virtual being, a ghost  and I can see myself lying unconscious. She is too but I can't see her ghost self. I jump back to my body and because I'm panicking and curious with questions.

I shake to wake her. "What's happening?" She explains that the ghost device gives you the opportunity to see the world differently but the only downside is, you cannot meet fellow ghosts because brains individually project how one views the world and it's different with everyone. I question whether it is possible to move things and scare people to which I'm informed with a nay. Only thing I can do is imagine anything or anywhere and it will appear like in a simulation.

With this information I ghostify myself and decided to use this power to face some fears I live with.

A portal opens and I see water. A wide river that seems deadly calm. I forgot to ask the most important question, if I would die in the real world if I died in the virtual world. "If we die, we die" I said to my lazy self, throwing caution to the wind. I entered the portal which immediately closed behind me as I jumped into the water.

Ice cold. I panicked but quickly remembered that's the biggest enemy to swimming. I recalibrated and pulled myself back up to gasp for air. Comfortable now, I started swimming towards the bank yonder.

Should I spice this up? A mischievous thought to introduce a snake into this plot lingered. Like an unfortunate wish that came through, I hear ruffles and see a python emerge from the bush near the bank I was heading towards. I panick. In my mind, I pictured a grass snake, something harmless.

The predator spotted prey and dipped its head in the open water for a chase. I almost let out a scream as I begun vigorously swimming in the opposite direction.

Unlike Lot's wife who lost the plot by looking behind, I focused on the main task. Catch me running, not waiting for a fight.

The bank moved closer and I reached out to a rock to quickly pull myself out. I still didn't bother to look back. As I pulled out I mysteriously emerged in a room, as if climbing into a house through a wooden window. Half my body was in the room with people, while the other half was still in water. I had no time to mesmerise over this situation, the fat snake was coming. I eased myself to the floor and lay down to relax.

A familiar face appeared. She was here, smiling at me. I woke up.

NOTE: The dream is a local version fused from two shows I watch - latest episode of Rick and Morty and Locke & Key.
